Disc springs can be designed to meet the specific requirements of a variety of applications. Springs from Mubea's standard product line which are designed per the requirements of DIN 2093, our internal factory standards, or other special sizes the broad spectrum of Mubea disc springs to DIN 2093, the additional dimensions of the Mubea Factory Standards and other special sizes. These disc springs are typically available from stock for immediate delivery.
Disc springs can also be designed with non-standard dimensions. Depending upon the availability of material and tooling requirements, delivery times may be longer. In such cases one should consider whether the additional cost and extended delivery time is justifiable. The following is a brief guide to support quick and accurate disc spring design.
To start with, information regarding the design is required, such as:
For a majority of applications, the materials specified in DIN 2093 or Mubea's Factory Standard (Ck 67, 50 CrV 4) are sufficient. The standard corrosion prevention is zinc-phosphating and oiling. Other surface coatings are listed in menu corrosion prevention. Applications requiring corrosion resistance, operation at extreme temperatures, antimagnetism etc. requires the use of special materials, which is explained in greater detail in menu materials. Please contact Mubea regarding spring designs for applications requiring special material.
If the desired mounting space is fixed, it first needs to be determined whether disc springs to DIN 2093, the Mubea factory Standard or special sizes can be used. The dimensions for these disc springs can be obtained from Section 6.2 of our handbook. The tables also specify the loads for the respective spring at different deflections.
Furthermore, detailed spring characteristics are shown in the graph section for the DIN 2093 sizes. The graphs shown also enable a fatigue life estimate to be made. Refer to Section 6.2 of our handbook for an explanation of the graphs. If a standard spring will not work for the application, disc springs can also be custom designed with the aid of the Mubea Calculation Program. Please contact Mubea if additional assistance is requried. It is preferable that the design of disc spring stacks should be done with the Mubea Calculation Program.
