Mechanical zinc plating offers the same level of corrosion protection as electrogalvanizing, but without the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.
In the mechanical zinc plating process a zinc powder is applied to the disc spring by the barrelling method. It is recommended that a subsequent chromate coating also be applied. Mechanically zinc-plated springs can be used for same range of applications as for springs that are electro-galvanized.
