Strategy

Under the motto "best 10", we summarized our main strategic corporate targets and values. They are part of our corporate culture and offer a joint direction and identity to our employees.

  1. 10 product groups at 10 automobile manufacturers

    The Mubea product range encompasses heavy-duty technical springs and other lightweight components. This includes both mature product groups with a high market share and new product groups with major growth potential. On the basis of this balanced product portfolio we are aiming for global market and/or technological leadership for all products.

    Attaining such a leading position for all product groups requires wide acceptance amongst core customers. Therefore our goal is to be listed as a supplier in all product groups at a minimum of 10 independent automobile manufacturers.

    Furthermore we want to be positioned with all the essential product groups in the triad markets of Europe, North America and Asia and enhance our presence in selected markets of the future. Particular attention is to be paid to OEMs with the largest growth potential.

  2. BEST Spring Technologies

    Mubea's success over the last few years can invariably be attributed to technical innovations. The technical know-how acquired from the development of springs needs to be enhanced and applied to other lightweight components.

    Therefore our essential development goals have been and remain:

    • increasing load tolerances
    • reducing component weight and
    • reducing manufacturing costs

     

  3. 10% weight reduction

    Turning lightweight design into reality is an important element of our product development. Given increasing scarcity of all resources, the issue of lightweight design is assuming major significance around the world.

    This offers Mubea great opportunities and therefore we want to develop an average lightweight potential of 10% for our product groups [in comparison to the 2006 design standard] by 2010.

    Furthermore our efforts to achieve lightweight design potential are in line with the requirement to reduce CO2 emissions in the automotive sector.

  4. 10% annual growth

    We view advancing concentration in the automotive supply industry as an opportunity for us to develop as a group. As in the past, we also want to increase the group’s sales by an average of 10% per annum in the next few years.

  5. 10% investment ratio

    In all product groups Mubea wants to appeal both technically and commercially as a supplier and at the same time achieve continuous growth. Past experience shows that this requires an investment ratio of 10%.

    Basically in order to be able to achieve such an investment ratio from profits earned, we must operate cost-effectively with scarce resources in all business units.

  6. 10% cost reduction

    To safeguard our global competitiveness we are aiming to reduce costs by an average of 10% by the year 2010. The focus in achieving this cost reduction potential in our own proportion of value-added will be on

    • increasing plant utilization rates
    • extending operation times to 6 or 7 weekdays and
    • utilizing the cost advantages in low cost countries.

    An important instrument to achieve cost reductions is our Idea Management. Our employees contribute a significant amount to our competitiveness due to their good ideas.

    Cost reductions totaling 10 % can however only be achieved if basic potential can also be developed in purchasing. In this respect we place the same demands on our suppliers as our customers place on us, knowing full well that exceptional performance can only result from fair and constructive cooperation with mutual benefits. Furthermore the fact that greater cost effects can only be achieved via a more pronounced internationalization of purchasing activities applies.

  7. Quality and Environment

    In principle Mubea regards quality as corporate quality, i.e. doing the right things properly in all corporate units. Here continuous improvement of processes and products and a consistent zero-defect mentality are our most important principles.

    In some of our product groups we have demonstrated in the past that a complaint rate of < 10 ppm can be achieved. We are aiming for such a complaint rate in all our product groups by 2010. Here it will be necessary to optimize manufacturing processes as early as the development stage in respect of their capability and stability, using systematic project management.

    Mubea products are already very environmentally friendly on account of their recyclability. Our efforts to develop further lightweight design potential are in line with the requirement to save natural resources and reduce CO2 emissions.

    A further corporate goal that we have is to reduce energy consumption in all Mubea factories by 10% by the year 2010.

  8. 10% apprenticeship and advanced training rate

    A company's success is determined by the performance of its employees. Mubea expects its employees to be proactive and to be prepared to perform at an above-average level and offers successful employees exceptional career opportunities and clear responsibilities.

    In all corporate units our employees are supported on a systematic and continuous basis and, as new opportunities develop, are motivated over the long term to perform on behalf of our company.

    Traditionally Mubea, with an apprenticeship rate of > 10%, has prepared young people for industrial and commercial careers at its German locations. One the one hand we want to transfer this proven type of training to all our factories abroad in the next few years.

    On the other hand the company’s advancement offers new opportunities to our own junior employees. For this reason we want to prepare at least 10 % of the workforce for advanced duties, using advanced training and personal development programs.

  9. To be in the top 10%

    Only the best companies can survive in a challenging competitive environment. We want to be one of these companies.

    Our management culture pursues clearly defined, challenging goals. These goals are in line with global standards, where we want to rank in the top 10%.
